Large amounts of asbestos were used in shipbuilding and construction prior to the mid -1970's. Anyone involved with those industries is at a higher risk for developing an asbestos related disease, including mesothelioma. The typical exposure period is lengthy, but some persons with short but intense exposures develop mesothelioma.

Last winter, January 2008, there was a massive fire in the downtown of the town I reside - Maquoketa, IA. The fire consumed three buildings in which local businesses were established. It was horrific, but the fire fighters came from surrounding communities to put the blaze to rest. The businesses had insurance for the cleanup of the fire, but it was soon discovered that there was asbestos located on site. Only one business had insurance that covered this and since other businesses were involved - it will not pay for the whole cleanup process. Now it is November (over nine months later) and the mess still sits. Probably through another winter. If this continues to be ignored I fear someone could get Mesothelioma.

raspberries, blueberries, green tea, walnuts, spinach, wheat bran,
rice bran, rosemary, garlic, thyme, oregano and onions. These foods
should be organic. Cut down on meat (especially grilled or barbecued)
and dairy food consumption, pickled food, smoked food, alcohol,
saturated fats, salt, sun exposure and smoking.
